The ‘Out and About’ Group become ‘Ladies who Dine ! The members of the ‘Out and About’ Group – at present all ladies, so enjoyed their Christmas Outing, that hey have decided to hold a monthly dinner club. Each month, and on different days of the week, a restaurant booking will be made, and information circulated. All the members have an opportunity to nominate eateries that they have enjoyed or heard about, and all types of menu will be selected. A coordinator has been appointed who will give advance notice of the date and time and has guaranteed that even if only one other member can make the date, the meal will go ahead. It is hoped that gradually the members will get to know each other well, and will not have to worry about finding company for an enjoyable meal out. We wish the new group well, and look forward to hearing further news about their exploits.

With such a pleasing response to the introduction of a Tai Chi Group, it has been decided to have two taster days, one on Monday 19th July and the other on Wednesday 21st July. There will be two classes each day, the maximum number of people per class will be 15 per session. The classes will run from 2pm to 3pm, and 3pm to 4pm on both Monday and Wednesday. We would ask all those who subscribed to the list to respond with their preferred day and time before the next meeting in July so that we can organise the sessions. Where possible we will facilitate their preference within the required group number. Please respond to Jean coussens on 01296 422325 or email jean.cousens@talktalk.net The cost per session will be £1.00.

OK, we have our regular walkers who stride out for four or five miles, and take stiles at a leap, and we have our ‘Exploring London’ walkers who study the Capital’s architecture and history: But there is another set - ‘ the ‘Gentle Walkers’ This group is for the enjoyment of those who, for one reason or another, cannot walk for any distance, but who enjoy getting out in the fresh air in the company of friends.

Five or six of this group recently began a gentle walk in Wendover – where there is free parking for the first hour. They strolled along the Heron Path admiring the clear stream, then diverted to circumvent the wild flower meadow and admire the waving blooms. A short while later they entered the Church and had time to explore its treasures before continuing their circular path back to the Heron Path, arriving in the car park almost exactly an hour later. A short drive to The Shoulder of Mutton followed by a light lunch – and a group of U3A friends had enjoyed a wonderful morning in the fresh air – at no financial cost!
