On Monday 30th Oct a gallant band of volunteers took part in a St Johns First Aid course organised by Dot Simmons. They variously ‘collapsed’ and ‘suffered’ all sorts of gory injuries so that their partner could practice their skills. Dummy adults, children and babies were kept alive with their CPR skills(much harder than it looks!) and shocked back to life with practice defibrillators.
After 3 hours the participants came away with skills and knowledge which hopefully they will never need to use but members should feel reassured that there are those in their midst who could come to their aid in an emergency.
