Social Calendar

New members to Aylesbury Vale U3A often comment on how friendly we are and our social activities programme tries to justify that claim. While we take the learning aspects seriously, we certainly do not neglect the social side.

Regular Events in 2010

Coffee mornings

One of our regular activities is a coffee morning where we especially welcome new members. We feel that this is an ideal opportunity for them to meet members of the committee and also have a relaxed and friendly introduction to some of our longer standing members.

Fun Quiz and Supper

We usually hold this in the autumn and the emphasis is on the fun, although the general knowledge of our members never ceases to surprise. Places for this are filled very quickly.

Christmas Celebrations

Christmas is certainly not neglected. We serve wine and fruit juice along with the traditional mince pies at our December general meeting and our Christmas Lunch, held at a local venue, has become a great favourite.

January	5	11am	Waddesdon Park	Gentle Walk in Waddesdon Park – meeting at 11am (for 11.15am start) in the Bowling Club car park on the right as you pass through the main gates of Waddesdon manor. Pub lunch later!

February	2	11am	Aylesbury Methodist Church	An Aylesbury town ‘heritage’ walk for the less active amongst us, meeting at 11am for 11.15am start outside the Aylesbury Methodist church in Buckingham Street.
	9	2.30pm	Aylesbury Grammar School	The Garden Group has a talk by Alexia Ballance on ‘Designing a Border’. UIt takes place place at the Aylesbury Grammar School from2.30 to 4pm (appx.)
March	2	11am	Eythrope Road	11am for 11.15am start – another gentle walk beginning at Eythrope Road in Stone village. Parking is limited so please share cars. Park appx. three quarters of a mile along Eythrope Road (first right turn after the white painted village hall). Enjoy the Rothschild parkland with us!

	9	2.30pm	Aylesbury Grammar School	JillCarey talks to the Garden Group on ‘Clever and Curious – Adapting for Survival’, Aylesbury Grammar School 2.30 to 4pm.
	17	10.30am	Broad Leys Public House	Another Coffee Morning at the Broad Leyes public house.
	25			A trip Kew Gardens – see report in Coach Outings
April	6	11am	Coombe Hil	Gentle Walk – Coombe Hill – meeting at 11am for 11.15am
	18	11am	Waddesdon Manor	Gentle Walk – Waddesdon Manor ( a special Sunday Walk) to see the daffodils in bloom
	22			A day trip to Cirencester and Rodmarton Manor. (see Coach Outings for details)
June	25 – 30			Study Tour of North Yorkshire based in Harrogate. * 28/01/10 – There are a few places available due to cancellations so please speak to Ron or Rosemary if you are interested. *
July	20			Berkeley Castle & the Jenner Museum. (see Coach Outings for details) * Note change of date *
August
September	17-19			3 days (2 nights) Walking in the New Forest in conjunction with our Local Walks Group. We hope to be able to arrange other activities, possibly a trip to the Isle of Purbeck for those that do not wish to join the walks. Suggested hotels are at Fareham or Bournemouth at a cost of about £150 plus a single supplement. We will be opening a provisional list to gauge the level of interest.
