The Bowls group runs from May to mid September (like the Cricket season). We play at Aylesbury Town Bowls Club on the Wendover Road and this incurs no extra charge for those who are full members of the club.
For others it is necessary to join as a Social Member which costs £12.50 with a further charge of £5.00 to cover green fees for the whole of our weekly Thursday morning U3A group. The Social membership entitles you to all the social functions at the club including use of the bar etc. and also the ability to play in a Spoon Drive with a Hot Dog afterwards that is held on most Friday evenings at the club at a cost of £1.00 that includes the Hot Dog and a chance to win a cash prize.
Beginners and experience players are equally welcome, we play in a friendly and relaxed way with a break for coffee. Anyone wanting to try out the game can come along without committing themselves, we have a few spare sets of bowls and tuition is provided, the first 2 sessions are free so don’t be frightened.
Dress Code is relaxed though Bowls shoes are essential in order not to damage the green. When playing at other times, i.e. Club social evenings then the regulation grey bottom with white top is necessary.
