The CUSS GROUP – Computer Users Support Service – is a self-help group that is intended to interest and help both novice and experienced PC users.
The group meets at the Grange School in one of the ICT classrooms equipped with desktop PCs and each meeting is dedicated to those who attend and what they want to be able to do with both PC and the internet.
To do this, those who attend must either have a good idea of what they want to achieve or a willingness to work one-to-one with another, and both to be prepared to experiment – there are many ways to solve problems and not much one can break, so take these opportunities to ‘play’.
It is expected that there are enough people at each meeting who know enough to help those who need it but note there will be occasions when cover may be a little thin or attendees’ requirements lie outside the collective group experience or the capabilities of the Grange School PCs.
This as one can see is not a ‘class’ and group members are not committed to regular attendance but it is a great way to become familiar with the PC and the internet and what they can do for you. Please register as a member of the group – there will be a list available at monthly meetings for registration or this may be done by e-mail to CUSS@avu3a.org.uk
U3A Members will be aware of another CUSS service, the PC question and answer mailing list U3AAVCUSS@freelists.org This will continue to be available for any AVU3A member to pose PC or internet related questions. No guarantee is made for a complete solution but someone usually has an answer or otherwise useful response!
