The group meets during the Autumn and Spring Terms to study and discuss art and artists through the ages from cave paintings to the present day, in a programme agreed each year by the group members.
Artists include not only painters but sculptors, architects and photographers — usually a specific artist but sometimes a group or movement or art relating to a particular country.
A number of group members make the presentations and we have gone back to the original formula of using books, articles and copies which generates more discussion.
We hope we are learning something and seem better able now to answer the art questions on ‘University Challenge’!
