Periodically a walk is organised to explore some aspect or an area of London. Normally the walk does not exceed 4 miles and is taken at a very steady pace with a break for lunch. We sometimes include a “mini-visit” to a particular place of interest. Whilst there are many “regulars” there is no membership of a group and we are always pleased to see new faces. The walks are posted on the notice board at the monthly Wednesday meetings. For safety and comfort consideration, the group size is limited, the numbers depending upon the nature of the walk.
By using a travelcard we are able to roam over the whole of London and its suburbs, groups of four can buy standard travelcards for the price of two persons, this is somewhat cheaper than buying a single ticket using a senior rail card. Re car parking at Stoke Mandeville, three or more in a car can park free if they arrive before 9am.
Over many years this group has covered much of London finding many of the lesser known gems off the beaten track, thanks to the expertise and in depth knowledge of our regular leaders.
