Chiddingstone

Event Details

Chiddingstone Castle is an historic Gothic-style house set in 35 acres of Kentish countryside, filled with the extraordinary treasures collected over a lifetime by a former owner, Denys Bower. The castle is an accredited museum housing Japanese, Ancient Egyptian, Stuart & Jacobite and Buddhist artefacts. The 19th-century kitchen still retains some of its original features. The castle has a tea room and gift shop.

Chiddingstone village, with its picturesque houses, is the best preserved Tudor village in Kent. Stroll down the narrow High Street with its cobbled pavements, visit the 15th-century inn and the 17th-century church, the shop and the tea room with its emporium of home furnishings in the Attic, admire the Old Manor and ponder the strange stone at the heart of the village which gives it its name.
