Do not be daunted by the idea of running a group. You need not even do it on your own—share the task with a friend and colleague in the U3A. You do not have to be an expert on the topic—-the idea is to share ideas, and everyone learn and enjoy, or just have fun as long as members get their tea and coffee!
National u3a provides much more detailed information which you might find useful
Steps to be taken:
Fill in the simple Groups application form below and submit it to your Groups Co-Ordinator.
They will help you find a venue and advertise your group to gather up some members. You don’t have to have large numbers to start with.
You will have to keep records of who attends and keep the Groups Co-Ordinator up to date with any changes. Just an easy tick list. You will also need to keep our Web Master up to date with dates of your meetings. This only involves one quick e mail.
The only other task will be a quick easy to do risk assessment, so we keep members safe. A five minute job once a year with an easy form to complete using tick boxes.
